Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the “Child House” in Thessaloniki, which deals with the hospitality and treatment of abused children and was informed of its operation.

He had the opportunity to find out about how the forensic examination of underage victims and minor witnesses in child -friendly environment, by specialized and appropriately trained scientists based on specific and specially structured protocol, is performed.

“On the one hand you manage such tragic incidents, on the other it is comforting that the state can, with the support of actors who have extensive experience in this subject, now provide children with a protection framework. So this is so difficult – because I imagine is a very traumatic – experience for the child, to have to talk about these incidents, to do so once and then use this deposit as evidence to curate justice“, The prime minister said.

“But, of course, you know better that it is the beginning of the process only. This is a long journey that is not always easy. That is why providing support in all steps, especially if we are discussing cases of removal from the family environment, are very difficult.

We will always be surprised by the extent of human drama, but we must be here to be able to provide for the toughest cases“, Added Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The forensic examination, followed by pre-trial, investigating and police authorities from a specially designed area, is recorded visual and utilized in the case of the case, without the need for the child’s presence. This prevents the juvenile victim from being re -exposed, while supporting their families.

The “Child’s House” in Thessaloniki, the third in Greece after Athens and Piraeus, which are co -founded, settled in December 2024 in its new and fully equipped space, with the first judicial examinations being carried out in January 2025. Kyriakos Mitsotakis toured the administrative and sports venues but also in the room where the club’s historical archive was kept and had the opportunity to talk to staff and be informed about the actions of the HANTH.

During the visit, Kyriakos Mitsotakis had the opportunity to meet with the HANTH team with whom they had visited the US in 1982.
