In his out-of-court letter to “Avgi”, newspaper executives, SYRIZA spokesman Nasos Iliopoulos and former regional governor Rena Dourou, Mr. Patoulis states that unless they recall and apologize for what they reproduced about plagiarism, “going to court is the only way for me.”
“Personally, I am not touched by the slanders of SYRIZA and its executives. What concerns me is the opinion of the citizens. “The citizens are the ones who support my political course until today and I will not allow this relationship of trust to be disturbed by lies and slander”, stresses George Patoulis.
The “Avgi” article and the reactions

For the last three days I have been receiving a constant, immoral and slanderous attack coming from the basements of Koumoundourou and the party newspaper AVGI, which is being reproduced with public statements by all kinds of party officials and supposedly scientists close to SYRIZA.
At the heart of the attack is their baseless claim that my doctoral dissertation is the result of plagiarism.
Unfortunately for them, it took only two days for the slanderous and false narrative of the alleged plagiarism to collapse, since with a document-certificate issued at my request, the President of the Medical School of Athens, Professor Gerasimos Siasos, characterizes as “original and the evaluation of the special part of my doctoral dissertation is authentic ”.
So we have on the one hand the document of the Medical School of the University of Athens and on the other the anonymous authors of AVGI and the famous executives of SYRIZA, who hurried to ask for my resignation with their statements and articles.
Once again, LIGHT collides with DARKNESS. But I am sure that once again, LIGHT will defeat darkness.
I return to SYRIZA, its executives and its party newspaper, the mud that was thrown at my face.
With an out-of-court settlement that I have already sent to the newspaper AVGI and the party executives of SYRIZA, who with their public statements described me as a “plagiarist”, I ask them to immediately withdraw their allegations and to apologize publicly.
Otherwise, I am obliged to go to court and claim my moral and financial compensation. I will also appeal to ESIEA at a later stage, asking for disciplinary action to be taken against those who submit to the truth and journalistic ethics, to party expediency.
Personally, I am not touched by the slanders of SYRIZA and its executives. What concerns me is the opinion of the citizens. The citizens are the ones who support my political course so far and I will not allow this relationship of trust to be disrupted by lies and slander.
I am well aware, due to my great political experience, that SYRIZA and its executives will try to question the prestige of the Medical School. They always do this, after all, since they do not get along well with either scientific truth or Excellence. They are bothered by the excellent because they do not easily fall victim to their immoral propaganda and ideology, which is destructive for our country. They treat the officials of Justice in the same way, when they do not like their decisions.
With SYRIZA, the newspaper and its executives, we will wage other political battles in the near future. I am confident that with the support of the people, with the supremacy of our principles and values, we will win these battles again.
