Kefalogiannis, stressed that in less than a month the new firefighting period is officially launched and what unites all stakeholders is a common goal and a common responsibility: the protection of human life, property, infrastructure and infrastructure.

The minister underlined the need for proper preparation, systematic coordination and timely taking all the necessary preventive actions so this year’s firefighting season is tackled in the most effective way. He also pointed out that this year’s common goal is summarized in reducing fires, rapid demarcation of those who are manifested and adopting a holistic approach in the case of large fires and noted that achieving these objectives depends directly on proper prevention.

As he said, in this context, adopting the lessons from the experience of previous years, both in our country and internationally, the Fire Department is constantly trained and trained, utilizing the scientific knowledge of the Greek and international academic community. At the same time, he pointed out that cooperation with the Forest Service, the Air Force and the Local Government is ongoing, both for the treatment of forest fires and for the safety and coordination of aircraft, but also for the proper recording and transfer of the status of the field to ESKE.

For the Attica region, as Mr Kefalogiannis noted, more than 3,500 firefighters will fight this year, coming from permanent staff, special forest firms, five -year firefighters and seasonal firefighters, and a critical part of the effort. “For this year’s period in Attica we will have the assistance of 800 volunteers of the Fire Department and we seek to have 1,361 civil protection volunteers from 70 volunteer groups,” the minister said.

In addition, as he pointed out, the role of the Armed Forces is crucial, which through the upgraded management and disaster management have significantly reduced the response time to fire cases.

At the same time, as he said, thanks to Antinero 1, 2, 3 and 4 programs, € 89m have been allocated to implement cleaning and creating firefighting zones in forest areas of Attica.

The minister also referred to the key role of the Greek Police and the Coast Guard, both in timely briefing and the possible preventive removal of citizens from threatened areas. He also expressed his conviction that this year their executives will show high professionalism and dedication.

Mr Kefalogiannis made particular mention of the first and second grade local government, and in the decisive role they play at all stages of prevention, preparedness and fires. The minister highlighted the importance of implementing the legislation on citizens’ land and recognized the efforts of the Municipalities of Attica, who, according to available data, showed a particularly generous effort to control statements compared to other areas of the country.
