“It’s a feast day, but it’s also a day we should all think, with gratitude, if you want with love, those who keep the boundaries of our country”
The Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, visited Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, with Lesvos, accompanied by Chief of General Staff General Dimitrios Houpis.

Also present were MP Charalambos Athanasiou, North Aegean Regional Governor Konstantinos Moutzouris and Mayor of Mytilene Panagiotis Christofas.
Subsequently, the Minister of National Defense paid a visit to the Snomnial Guard (EF) “PROVIDA”, where he was welcomed by the Commander of the 98 Higher Administration of the National Guard (98 ADTA “ARCHIPELAS”) Lieutenant General Nikolaos Gretsas.
In his statement after the Visit to EF, Mr. Dendias pointed out:
“Christ Risen! However, the wishes, and in particular Christ Risen, the highlight of Christianity and Orthodoxy, gain another importance when they are formulated by the boundaries of our country, here from the guard to Akrotiri “Provosca” in Mytilene.
It is a feast day, but it is also a day we all have to think of, with gratitude, if you want with love, those who guard the boundaries of our homeland, the uniforms. Greek citizens who wear the honored uniform of the Greek Armed Forces and Security Forces. With their service in the homeland and in the community, they allow everyone else, to all of us, to celebrate these holy days with our families, safely.
Again, Christ risen to all“
Concluding his visit, the Minister of Defense visited the 221th National Guard (TE) Battalion (TE) of Mytilene, where he attended the Easter meal and exchanged wishes for Easter with executives and gunmen.
Addressing the 221 TE staff during the Easter meal, the minister said:
“The effort is being made is recognized. The “agenda 2030” cannot be an agenda of weapons systems. It must be a “agenda” that cares mainly about human resources. This is her multiplier. We will succeed. The residential will continue. We have the financial planning to build 1,000 apartments every year throughout Greece.
I hope in a new reasonable time to complete the needs for our staff. As for the salary, I want to say that we have an agreement with the prime minister, the savings to be re -recalled. And I thank the prime minister for accepting it as a beginning.
In the second phase of the reform, I hope we have other savings that we will again be able to distribute them to our staff so that we have a decent reward for the priceless they offer home. “
Addressing the crews and rulers of the Navy ships, in particular the “warrior” cannon and the coastal patrols of “GALANI” and “TOXOTIS”, which seizes Easter at the Port of Mytilene and attended the lunch:
“To thank you the rulers too. We make a great effort to the armed forces under the title “Agenda 2030”. A proud part is the Navy. I am sure that when this effort is over, the Navy will be the most modern and the strongest in its history.
I know we have ships that you are in great effort to be honored and to perform the constitutional task.
What I can promise you from the state is that there is a constituted attempt to modernize the whole fleet. We will create the most powerful Navy we have ever had on the glorious laurels of the existing Navy. Be well. Christ Risen! Thank you very much for what you do. Thank you very much. “
