Theodorikakos in SKAI: The Polytechnic must be celebrated peacefully

The Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos spoke to SKAI about the anniversary of the Polytechnic, the rise of crime and the restructuring of ELAS.

Regarding the anniversary of the Polytechnic, on Wednesday, the minister said that it is also “it should be a celebration of democracy, freedom and unity and that is why the celebration should be peaceful”. That is the goal of the government, as he stressed.

Regarding the presence of the police, he stated that the job of ELAS is to contribute with the security measures, so that there is order.

Regarding the rise in crime, Mr. Theodorikakos said that, after the end of the quarantine, it was normal to have a release of delinquency and crime.

However, the government’s goal is to strengthen ELAS ‘presence in the neighborhoods.

For this purpose, in fact, the ministry provided 1000 additional police officers and increased the patrols, which every night from 12 am to 6 am. will be located in the neighborhoods.

As for the juvenile gangs, he said it is a very negative and worrying phenomenon, but the police will deal with such phenomena.

Finally, regarding the police officer from Trikala who allegedly abused his 4-year-old daughter, Mr. Theodorikakos stressed that he has been made available. As he said, such people have nothing to do with ELAS and will leave the body.
