The Minister of Citizen Protection called for measures to be taken from universities to prevent such phenomena
The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, today condemned yesterday’s episodes that took place at an event in Law, where hoodlums attacked attendees at a day injuring a student, describing them as “unacceptable”.
At the same time, he questioned “why so violent people are coming into universities, who are causing so much damage and bodily harm to innocent people.”
“What they deserve is to arrest and refer them to justice and this will be because this is the rule of democracy,” Mr. Chrysochoidis stressed, adding that “the police must solve the case because there is an injured student,” the minister told the TV station.
Mr. Chrysochoidis called for measures to be taken from universities to prevent such phenomena. “Not everyone can enter a school without knowing who they are,” he said, recalling that “we have voted for a law of 2021 and has not been applied under the responsibility of those who run the universities.”
Mr Chrysochoidis then pointed out that the situation in universities is significantly improved compared to the past, stressing that there are no longer occupations, but “in some universities there are assemblies of irrelevant people and movements that should not be done in universities”. “The school’s amphitheater is to take lessons, to meet student factions and to become a number of events, but to meet various irrelevant organizations related to issues related to violence is unacceptable,” the Minister of Citizen Protection concluded.
