Mr Kasselakis was absent from the process and was represented by his lawyer, who said in his statements that he would appeal against the decision.

Former General Manager of the Party Thymios Georgopoulos and as a witness to defense was testified by Manolis Kapnissakis, director of his political office.

The case arrived at the hearing following a search of Mr Kasselakis, in the context of a preliminary examination, which began in March 2024, following reports on his involvement in a US company, which had made money as a loan to SYRIZA for paying employees. Upon completion of the investigation, conducted by the Prosecutor Dimitris Nomikos, a criminal prosecution was prosecuted against Mr Kasselakis for the breach of the law on the declaration and control of the property of politicians, state officials, etc.
