The Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou explained what applies to the settlements below 2,000, when they build and when not
“The PD is coming to shield the settlements from a short -threatening threat,” Stavros Papastavrou’s Minister of Environment and Energy, asked about the issue that has triggered reactions to owners of small plots.
The Minister clarified that there are decisions of the CoE that annulment the demarcation of the settlements made in 1985 by decision of the then prefectures.
Later it canceled the actions of the Prefectures, judging that the way they exercised the responsibility had no scientific approach and had a degree of arbitrariness. “In 2017, the CoE ruled that a total of 147 settlements in Crete and Pelion could not issue a single building permit,” Papastavrou said, explaining that if a new appeal this decision of the CoE could apply to all settlements.
The minister added that under these decisions of the CoE need a new planning plan by presidential decree. “The PD that came to create criteria so that local urban planning plans can have scientific criteria and all settlements below 2,000 inhabitants come closer to shielding their property.
Significant clarification made the minister for the remote areas of the settlements that the prefects at the time had incorporated in the areas.
“This has to do with the national effort not to desert the villages. We are working on a legislative initiative that will take both the confession and approach of the CoE and the national need to strengthen small settlements.
Concerning the plots in Pelion and Rethymnon, the minister said that the PD is “unlocking” the values.

Our country has a position of geostrategic importance, Mr. Papastavrou stressed as he said it is linked to all countries in the north. “It is interconnected with Italy, Albania, b. Macedonia with Boutlgaria and Turkey, “he said, adding that Greece is an energy hub.
“With the axis to the north the American gas can come either to Revithousa or Alexandroupolis and from there he find his way up.
