OPEKEPE’s temporary president Nikos Salata was decided by Minister of Rural Development Costas Tsiaras following the European Public Prosecutor’s complaints to obstruct the audits.

In its announcement the Ministry of Rural Development refers to “Reasons of an urgent public interest”.

This decision, according to the announcement “It was dictated by the need to avoid any challenge to ensuring the smooth and effective cooperation of the Organization with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in the exercise of its audit powers.”

On Thursday, Minister of Rural Development Costas Tsiaras had called for Mr Salata’s resignation, following the announcement of OPEKEPE with which he gave a deadline to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, and in particular to the European Prosecutor, N. Paschalis, the Court of Appeal, within 48 hours of the European Prosecutor, within 48 hours. Elements at the Organization’s headquarters, then it will appeal to justice.
