Greece’s support for UN efforts for the Cyprus issue was reiterated by Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis during his meeting with the personal envoy of the Secretary -General María ángela Holguín Cuéllar
In particular, Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met today, Thursday, June 5, with the personal envoy of the United Nations Secretary -General María ángela Holguín Cuélar.
The visit of María ángela Holguín Cuéllar is followed by the taking of her duties on May 2, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to exchange views in view of the impending enlarged informal meeting, which is expected to take place in July.
Mr Gerapetritis expressed the support of Greece in the efforts of the UN Secretary -General and his personal envoy, for the Cyprus issue, as well as the country’s willingness to contribute constructively, in conjunction with the Republic of Cyprus to finding a comprehensive, fair, fair, fair and fair residential resolution.
The Foreign Minister noted the importance of preserving the mobility, which has entered the Cyprus issue and the need to continue the United Nations process with the aim of implementing the agreed upon expanded meeting of Geneva. He stressed that confidence building is a necessary condition for the reboot of talks on the basis of the agreed framework under the auspices of the UN.
