The new Road Traffic Code will include reduced speed limits, the Deputy Minister of Transport Konstantinos Kyranakis said in SKAI and the “Atasimois” broadcast, and also reported that one Saturday in July, the 24 -hour metro will operate in July.

Concerning the speed limits, Mr Kyranakis explained that after the new Code was voted on, municipalities will be called upon to draw up plans that would set out on what paths the boundaries will be at 30 km and to whom 50 or more.

Referring to drivers’ breach of speed limits, he said the fines would be scaled. For example, if one exceeds the speed limit of 50km the first time will pay a fine of € 700 and removed his diploma for 60 days, while for the third time he will be in the same infringement, the fine will reach 2000 euros and the 2 -year diploma removal of 2 years

For drivers who cause fatal traffic, the penalty can reach 10-20 years and if it is a multi-car accident, the life imprisonment.

He also announced that he would be lifted to a telephone privacy to determine if a driver caused a mobile car. He noted that the mobile navigation operation is excluded which should be in a special position in the vehicle.

“The new KOK is a means of protecting drivers from dangerous drivers,” Mr Kyranakis said characteristically, noting that “the tightening comes to relapse. He does not come to the first sentence, except for some exceptions. “

At the same time presented a new digital tool, the Digital Road Conflict Map (accidents.maps.gov.gr) who, as he said, operates in Attica. As he said it is an important tool for municipalities and regions to make interventions.

“If we see that there is accumulation, municipalities should take the necessary actions,” he said characteristically, adding that the map would also add information from insurance companies and from EKAB’s intercourse “so that we can save lives and reduce traffic accidents”.

At the same time, Mr. Kiranakis said that From tomorrow we will have 50 new buses in Athens. “Every month they come 50. By the end of the year we will have about 1000 new buses in Athens and so much more in Thessaloniki,” he said.

For the cameras on the buses he said that the first 10 have already been installed and their operation will start in July and in September the rest will start to settle.
