The decline in international oil prices was commented by Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, in his statements to SKAI, noting that the Greek government is closely monitoring developments in the world market and geopolitical instability.
“In the last few hours, it has been a decline in oil prices, but we must expect to see how the situation will evolve in the next 24 hours,” he said.
The minister also said that, thanks to government interventions, not only increases in ferry tickets were avoided, but there was also a decrease of 32%, which, he said, should be maintained throughout the tourist season.
“We have not only succeeded in not raising the prices of the ferry as it was initially announced, but also to decrease about 32% and this should be maintained throughout the tourist season, because shipping, tourism and real estate services give the highest income in the country’s GDP,” Mr Kikilias said.
Mr Kikilias also said that no one is allowed to be profitable, whether it be ferry companies or gas stations. “No one has the right to burden citizens at excessive prices. Reduction of fuel costs must pass to consumer »he said with emphasis.
