Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was guided by Deputy Minister of Health Marios Themistokleous in the fully renovated emergency department, whose premises were expanded and modernized, with the result that the ICC has now been able to receive emergencies of about 87,000.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited other hospital units, including the fully renovated 5th floor rehabilitation center and was informed of the progress of the work on the rest of the floors.
The prime minister had the opportunity to talk to citizens and staff members, including doctors who returned to Greece from abroad. “Here is our home,” said one doctor who returned from England.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis was informed by Commander Ioannis Iliopoulos of the increased capabilities of the CAT, whose budget increased by almost 70% in the past five years, rising to 66.3 million euros in 2024, while employees have increased by 191 from 2019 to 2019.
As a result, KAT performs 15,000 surgeries annually and its regular outpatient clinics serve about 110,000 citizens per year.
The projects in the CAT are included in the broader upgrading plan of all levels of the public health system, with resources of the Recovery and Resilience Fund. In the coming months, renovation and upgrades are expected to be completed in 16 more ICTs in Attica.
