His first speech

Comrades and comrades,

First of all, I would like to thank the tens of thousands of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance members who have ordered us to be here today, as the new Central Committee of the Party, in the New Age, at the time of our restart.

I would like to thank the president for his proposal on my face. I would like to thank Rania Svigou for her kind words, for our cooperation and for her contribution during these difficult years.

It is very high for me. But the biggest is the sense of responsibility I feel. I am fully aware of the situation, demands and difficulties. I am fully aware of the history of moments. For our party, for our area, for the country as a whole.

I know it and we all know very well that there is a whole system out there that wants to unravel with the SYRIZA-Progressive alliance. Who wants to unravel with the left as an alternative proposal of governance. I also know we all know that it takes time and work to restore confidence bonds with the world we have disappointed.

But I am not hiding that today I am a little more optimistic. I’ll tell you what gives me strength and courage. It is first of all the stubbornness of the people of our party, who denied those who had specified our negative evolution. We had a successful conference that sent a clear message of support and support of the SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance.

Which, after the mass electoral process for the President in November, we made a successful and massive electoral process for the Central Committee.

SYRIZA is here. Upright. It can withstand. It has a pulse. He has, above all, people who hurt him and believe in every corner of the country. A real party of its members. This is the best basis for growing up and becoming strong again by SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance.

The second element that gives me strength is that I believe deeply and honestly in the political and social necessity of our party. I’ll tell you as simply as I can: SYRIZA is the only party in Greece that clearly says that the Left can and should rule the country. It is neither a protest party nor a consensual choice or a supposedly anti -systemic force that actually does the dirty work of the system.

We say it clearly: against the policy of the Mitsotakis government, the right, the unjust and the authoritarian. Policy for the few, the policy of inequalities, the policy of scandals, corruption, rupees, the split of public money, the violation of every concept of rule of law. In the face of this policy, a real alternative is needed. Left, progressive, just, democratic and honest. Not one of the same. And only if it is SYRIZA-Progressive alliance strong, can this alternative proposal be a Progressive Governance program.

The third element is that I believe deeply in the political plan that we all decided together at our conference and which is implemented by our President, Socrates Famellos. A renewal plan. And be careful: Refreshing is not only age. After all, nothing is done without experience. Like nothing without principles and without values, to be clean. It is, above all, renewal of perceptions, practices, ways of working.

At the same time, an extroversion plan. It is true, we were very suffering. We fought and we are still struggling to close our wounds. But it’s time to end all this. It’s time to look ahead. To go out, the world and the street. In neighborhoods and workplaces. To be everywhere. There will be not a single corner of Greece that we will not have gone. There will be neither one of our fellow citizens, or one of our fellow citizens, who we have not heard. There will be not any of our fellow citizens, or one of our fellow citizens, who has not been informed, who has not learned about the positions, the program, about our actions.

This means that we will melt soles here. This means that our organizations will really become the party in their place, as our statutes now bind us. It means, however, that we will also use all the modern means of political participation and communication.

We want a modern, open, participatory party. A party that will become attractive to young and young people again, standing suspiciously towards the political system.

Allow me a bracket here. To make it clear: We are not all the same in this country. We were once told that “we ate them all together”. Now they want to convince us that “we have all grazed them together”. So neither ‘we ate them together’ nor “grazed them together”. They ate them alone. But unfortunately, every time, we all pay the bill together.

And because I referred to the new generation of the country, I want to say: Every bankruptcy, every economic scandal, except for the political or even the criminal dimension, has another dimension. In fact it is a burden that is transferred to future generations. Finally, an end to this vicious circle must finally enter. And this end is only SYRIZA-PS who, as the president said, does not hold us, is the only political power that can put it.

Comrades and comrades,

We want, among other things, a reliable party. Which will operate by rules, with plan, accountability, accounting. “We had something to do and we did it” or “we didn’t do it for him and for that reason.” “This choice came out. That choice did not come out, we will not repeat it. ” Less bureaucracy, less overlapping, simpler and faster work. All of this actually means more space and time for politics. That’s what we want.

Comrades and comrades,

As for me, I was never afraid of either the responsibility or a lot of work. I have fallen into the deep times and swam. I was a party spokesman for three years. I worked for SYRIZA night. I fought publicly for our party.

In July 2023, the party, by unanimous decision of the Political Secretariat, honored me to appoint me a press spokesman. In a transitional situation, after two electoral crashes, the departure of Alexis Tsipras, with great introversion and one country burning all summer from end to end. I put back to keep the party upright and at the forefront of the opposition against the Mitsotakis government. No mistakes and without letting anything fall down. The president remembers them, we lived together.

Today the SYRIZA-Diocese Alliance is in a completely different phase. We have gone through two divisions and two parliamentary amputations, which deprived us of the position of the opposition for the first time from the postwar period.

At the same time, we continue to have-albeit weak-a horizontal and colorful antitrust front. With new additions, indeed. And, of course, the more general, European and international, retreat of the Left and the Progressive Forces and the rise of the far -right and the opposition influence political affairs in Greece as well, adversely affect SYRIZA.

And other times, however, the Left has gone through difficulties, much greater difficulties. However, her obligation to stand by our people has always given the fighters and militants of the left to transcend these difficulties. The Left and the Progressive Party grew up in this place when the “we” and the “together” were over the “I”.

The increasing social problems, the inability of many to go beyond, the pervasive insecurity, first of all the challenge of the supreme good of peace and life, are forgiving us today to stand at the height of the circumstances.

To make sense again to the concepts of companionship and collectivity. To stand with modesty against the citizens and their problems. To dwell with determination and fist towards the Mitsotakis government, its unjust policy and its miserable practices. Let’s say things by their name. Only we can do it.

To move forward, all together. No exclusion, no separation of yesterday. With our guide one word: unity. I will serve this case with all my might.

Thank you very much.
