The Minister of Migration and Asylum, Thanos Plevris, had a meeting with the Egyptian ambassador of Egypt to Greece, Omar Amer Yusef.

The two sides praised the high level of existing bilateral cooperation and discussed the issue of illegal immigration in detail, with a common intention of intensifying efforts to strengthen returns, which is a consistent priority of the government and the Ministry of immigration and asylum.

The need for more effective cooperation in the field of returns was made as a prerequisite for further enhancing legal immigration.

In this context, the minister informed the ambassador that he is currently in Egypt in the Ministry of Migration and Asylum in order to continue the technical dialogue to strengthen the bilateral land recall agreement.

The meeting was held in a particularly positive atmosphere, with the Ambassador of Egypt to invite the Minister of Migration and Asylum for a visit to Cairo, which Mr Plevris accepted, with the aim of further strengthening the cooperation of the two countries in managing the Ministry.
