Another verbal decline to the United Nations was sent by Libya, which was published as an official UN document on July 1st.
The decoration was deposited by the Libyan side on May 27 and is accompanied by a map that captures external continental shelf limits that reach Crete.
In its letter, Libya cites the Turkish -Turkolibyan Memorandum on the 2019 marine zones, arguing that it is based on international law.
At the same time, it describes the Greek -Egyptian agreement on the EEZ as invalid, judging it “incompatible”.
This is the second verbal diaphragm from Libya published in July.
Nothing is accidental for what is happening in the area
The new pressure with immigration in our country brings to light the problems with Libya and undoubtedly concerns the government.
Greece is trying to halt asylum flows, but without cooperation with Haftar, a solution is not seen.
All this at a time when the illegal Turkolibyan Memorandum is reinforced through Turkish penetration in Benghazi (the issue of the Turkish Memorandum seems to be of concern to the neighbor, as Turkish media, they point out that when Happy and their relations will ratify their relations). Positions of the Turkolibyan Memorandum and constitute, for the first time in the time, official recording of a claim against Greece.
Diplomatic sources for the verbal decoration of May 27, 2025
The verbal decoration of May 27, 2025 of the Libyan Permanent Representation to the United Nations, in response to Greek initiatives for legitimate sovereign rights, expresses the permanent positions of Libya, but does not produce legal results.
These positions have been put in the past and has been properly answered by Greece and Egypt.
International law is not invoked by unilateral verbal intercourse, nor by pious wishes of third parties. Such positions do not refer to the preparedness for re -establishment of talks on the demarcation of a continental shelf and an exclusive economic zone under international sea law.
Greece will continue on the path of international law and the solid regional alliances that multiply its diplomatic power.
Unlike invalid and non -existent agreements, Greece is walking and acting under international law and does not hesitate to directly formulate its positions in every interlocutor, as the Foreign Minister recently did during his visit to Libya.
