NIKI expresses her intense dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the occasion of his refusal to receive a delegation of farmers who traveled to Athens in the midst of the heat. As the party notes, the tragic situation of Greek livestock farming does not seem to move the government, despite the fact that the units are closing and young people are leaving the countryside.

The announcement blames the prime minister of ‘Selective sensitivity’recalling that in the past he has welcomed the Maximos Palace from different places, but “He did not accept to devote a few minutes to people who produce food for the country.”

Breeders, according to NIKI, are in despair due to extreme weather, the flocks affecting the flocks and the excessive prices in feed. At the same time, they criticize the lack of prevention measures, such as the necessary vaccinations, and denounce the logic of mass deaths as “solution”.

The Party points out the need for a national strategy aimed at eating self -sufficiency, describing it as a matter of national security, and calls on the government to stop indifference and take immediate support measures to prevent this vital industry not permanently lost.

The whole party announcement:

The tragic situation of livestock farming in our country does not move as the Prime Minister, who refused to accept, at least for a few minutes, a delegation of a small group of breeders from all over Greece, who arrived in Athens in the midst of heat.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who once from the lady and sometimes from the side entrance, has received shipowners, entrepreneurs, scientists, athletes, artists, immigrants, members of the LGBTKI community and various other associations, did not accept the farmers, and he did not accept the farmers.

But he is in a hurry to meet them when elections are called.

“Livestock is erasing, units are closing one after another, young people are leaving the countryside,” the breeders said, recalling that they are repeatedly hit by extreme weather conditions, the diseases that affect their flocks, and outrageous prices.

Sheep and goats farm, until recently covered in our country, a large part of the dietary needs of the population, and has also contributed to processing, with the production of excellent cheese products that are known and branded around the world, such as feta.

The government has left the farmers helpless and does not take any protection measures, such as the animal vaccination. Instead, it imposes mass deaths where there is a disease, in the logic of “hurts hand, cuts a hand”!

NIKI points out:

Livestock in Greece can be an important economic activity with many comparative advantages.

Eating self -sufficiency must be an essential element of our country’s strategy. It is a crucial issue of security in times of general liquidity and insecurity.

We do not know what plans the prime minister will implement for livestock farming in Greece, but he has a primary obligation to accept and hear our farmers and announce effective support measures before the situation becomes irreversible.
