The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a telephone contact with the president of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas. During communication the latest developments were discussed at Gauze and on the West Bank.
The prime minister expressed his deep concern about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and stressed that any expansion of hostilities is unacceptable. In addition, it conveyed Greece’s position on the need for seamless flow of humanitarian aid, immediate ceasefire and unconditional release of all hostages.
At the same time, it emphasized the need to resume the political process aimed at resolving the two states, which would coexist peacefully and safely.
The prime minister reiterated Greece’s support for the Palestinian Authority as the only legalized representative of the Palestinian people, as well as Greece’s readiness to take further humanitarian initiatives.
