A message on the Feast of the Dormition of the Virgin was sent by Attica Regional Governor Nikos Chardalias.

The message

“The 15th of August, the top feast of Orthodoxy and deeply rooted in our traditions and collective experience, goes beyond the limits of a religious anniversary. It is a day of national self -knowledge, social unity and cultural memory. It is a moment that unites our people around common values: faith, solidarity, respect for human dignity.

The 15th of August is also an opportunity to reflect “Together”. In a time of intense global challenges, threats and social inequalities – unity, concern for fellow human beings and collective responsibility are not luxury. It is a necessity. We need more justice, more solidarity, more humanity.

Today, we also honor our armed forces, which are celebrated under the protection of the general general. Our wives and men who, with a sense of duty and deep responsibility, serve and defend our safety and national sovereignty daily.

But during these hours, our thinking is also next to our fellow citizens who are tested by fires, but also to everyone who fights at the forefront to protect our lives, property and our natural environment. Solidarity, support and unity are our most powerful weapon against any difficulty.

Let this day be not only a cause for devotion, but also for meaningful thinking on which society we want to build. A society that will not leave anyone behind, defending the rights of everyone, who will move forward with a collective vision.

Let us be a source of power and a reference point for a more fair and open society.

Happy birthday to everyone!

With health, peace and dedication to what unites us. “
