The Minister of Tourism Ms. Kefalogiannis met with SA The Korean Ambassador to Greece, Ju-Sepong Lim, in view of its visit to South Korea, which is a target market according to the Ministry of Tourism’s strategy.

The visit of the Minister of Tourism aims to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations in the field of tourism, at all levels, with the main objectives being the tourist promotion of our country, the increase in tourism flows on either side and the promotion of bilateral business cooperation in the field of tourism investment.

The Korean tourism market is particularly important for our country, on the one hand because of its dynamics and on the other due to its prospects for the strategic goals of attracting quality tourism throughout the year and in terms of business and investment cooperation in the field of sustainable tourism development.

Today’s debate has focused on the exchange of views on the main issues, focusing on Ms. Minister’s visit to Korea, the trends of tourism demand and the preference of Korean outbound tourists in special forms of tourism, such as religious, cultural and gastronomic tourism.

The issue of promoting a direct airline connection between the two countries, which will substantially contribute to the development of tourist flows between the two countries and further business cooperation, was also discussed.

Finally, Ms Kefalogiannis told the Korean Ambassador to Greece, Mr Ju-Etong Lim that she intends to invite the newly-appointed counterpart of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Chae Hwi-Young, to visit our country in the near future and to sign in the near future.
