An important initiative that enhances social cohesion and employment, through organized integration of refugees and immigrants in the labor market, is implemented by the publication of the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD).

By the Joint Ministerial Decision signed by the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikolaos Papathanassis, the Minister of Labor and Social Security Niki Kerameos, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Anna Efthimiou and the Deputy Minister of Immigration It is funded by the recovery and durability fund.

The program provides third -country nationals with legal accommodation in Greece the opportunity to participate in real -life internships, with the aim of developing skills and access to the labor market. The actions cover key areas such as agriculture, construction, tourism, while special programs for women are foreseen, enhancing opportunities for employment and social integration.

The implementation has been undertaken by the International Organization for Migration in cooperation with the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum.

The Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum, Sevi Voloudakis, said:

“With this new initiative we give immigrants the opportunity to join Greek society smoothly, acquiring meaningful skills and employment prospects. Internship, in collaboration with the private sector, is a bridge between education and work, enhances social cohesion and contributes to local and national development. “

The action is expected to benefit a significant number of refugees and immigrants, while providing support to businesses operating in neuralgic sectors of the Greek economy.
