Tomorrow’s visit by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Thessaloniki and his meetings with productive and business bodies of the city, as well as with representatives of Local Government, opens the curtain of a large government excursion to northern Greece. Almost all of the whole, the government will move to Macedonia and Thrace next week to a mobilization designed to demonstrate that northern Greece is at the forefront of government policy priorities.
For the better organization of the actions of next week, yesterday at the Thessaloniki Administration, the Minister of the Interior, Theodoros Livanios and the Deputy Minister of the Interior, responsible for Macedonia – Thrace, Konstantinos Gioulekas. At the same time, yesterday afternoon, the ND’s Thessaloniki Board of Directors met, in the presence of party secretary Costas Skrekas and General Manager Yiannis Smyrlis. The mobilization of the party mechanism with actions and events throughout Northern Greece next week, in view of TIF, was at the center.
The mass excursion of ministers, deputy ministers, deputies and secretaries of ministries next week in Macedonia and Thrace is not irrelevant to the fact that the ruling party has recorded negligible losses in northern Greece in recent years. In a privileged one for the party, especially in the European elections, losses were distinct. Both in Thessaloniki and in the regional counties, where it appeared that the party was losing contact with a traditional conservative audience.
Mobilization in view of the TIF aims to re -build a network of communication with the electorate on a specific and clear political narrative, with the priority of the particular needs of each region. An indication of this approach is the meeting yesterday by the Deputy Prime Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis, with MPs of the Kozani, Grevena, Kastoria and Florina Prefectures, that is, western Macedonia. As he pointed out, “It is a bet for both Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and me personally to try to make a fair transition to Western Macedonia.” And added: “It is our priority to keep Western Macedonia upright and give it a new developmental breath.”
At the same wavelength will be the scales of government officials starting from next Monday, September 1, until Friday, September 5, will visit all the Regional Units of Macedonia and Thrace. There will be two events in Thessaloniki on Friday.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to go up to the co -host next Friday, who will hold the opening speech of the 89th TIF on Saturday, September 6th. It is expected that he will include extensive references to Northern Greece and the priority of projects and actions that the government will go to the region.
