With his introductory speech Kyriakou Mitsotakis started the meeting of ministerial councilwhich is the first for the government after the summer break.

The prime minister referred to a series of legislative initiatives and measures that are on the top priorities of the government and will be presented by the relevant ministers during the meeting. “Our goal is to improve everyday life, which goes through the country’s collective growth and will also concern us with the TIF with the announcements made for economic policy

He was particularly stood on the subject of universitiesstressing that their operation will signal the implementation of a reform that the country has been waiting for for decades. In fact, he stressed that the fact that no authorization has been approved so far for any of the applications submitted demonstrates the rigor of the procedure.

This year’s academic year will welcome an innovation: 4 non -profit universities. The fact that all the institutions who have applied was not licensed proves how rigorous the control was that some were concerned about. It is not a victory for the government but a victory of common sense“, He underlined.

He also referred to the need for every child in the country, regardless of the income of his parents, to have equal access to 21st century learning tools.

“It is an effort that is obviously not just about students, it also concerns our teachers and teachers, who will take part in training activities in new technologies. It is not enough to have only digital tables in schools, and teachers must have the tools so that they can use and integrate them, ” as he typically said. “Music schools and free digital tutorials will be upgraded to be presented with an initiative with a company AI

“Shortly before the first bell it is reasonable to complete the work and preparations of the Ministry of Education and with the appointment of nearly 10,000 teachers, this year the emphasis is placed on elementary and special education” and continued, noting that “the program” Marietta Giannakou “is evolving. Every school renovated gives a sense of optimism to the local community. “

New Framework for Licensing Regional Stations

The prime minister subsequently emphasized that “the foundation of social policy is the economy, which is funding it” and referred to the Ministry of Development’s bill, which he said “lifting bureaucracy” on the start of business activities.

In addition, Mr Mitsotakis referred to the licensing bill of regional channels, characteristically saying that the information presupposes transparency.

Finally, the prime minister made special mention in the bill of the Ministry of Environment and Planning, which concerns the codification of all relevant provisions and pointed out that “it is of great importance as it simplifies the daily lives of citizens and reduces bureaucracy”.

The entire introductory position of the Prime Minister:

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, and a good start of the autumn political period.

At the center of today’s meeting is the improvement of the daily life of the citizen, which apparently goes through the collective development of the country. They are issues that will be of concern to us next weekend at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition, where I will have the opportunity to present the main pillars of our economic policy for 2026.

Today, however, we have the opportunity to consider 2+2 initiatives, which have a very essential social and development footprint.

Let me start with the important initiatives of the Ministry of Education, which relate to all educational levels. Sofia Zacharakis will have the opportunity, in view of the start of the school year, to talk to us and make us a comprehensive overview of the very important progress steps that have been made in the field of education, essentially in recent years.

Tell us about the interactive boards, which have now been installed in all schools, about robotics kit, which now exceed 117,000 across the country. I start with these two interventions because I do not think they are simply an adaptation of our education system to the digital age, but a central political choice of the government, with a deep social sign: every child in Greece, regardless of the income of his parents, to have equal access to the 21st century learning tools.

It is an attempt that, obviously, is not just about the students, it concerns both our teachers and our teachers, who will take part in training activities in new technologies. It is not enough to have interactive digital tables in schools, and teachers must have those tools so that they can use and integrate them into their daily lives.

We equip the laboratories of the Natural Sciences. We make an important intervention by upgrading our music schools with new instruments. During the year, innovation centers will be developed in all 13 Regional Directorates, and it is very important that courses will be enriched but the free digital tutorial, which operates since last year, will be enhanced.

We will have the opportunity, and next Friday, shortly before the launch of the International Exhibition, to present a very important initiative along with a leading artificial intelligence company, which is now integrating the tools of artificial intelligence in supporting students who are called upon to prepare for them. More about them will say next Friday.

I imagine, Mrs. Minister, that as the first bell will ring soon, work and preparations are completed. The appointments of nearly 10,000 permanent teachers have already progressed, with emphasis, as you said, in the elementary school this year, and in Special Education. The recruitment of the alternates were made. The books went to schools.

And I am very pleased because it is evolving, I would say at high speed and despite the problems we encountered and with a great response from the local communities, the Marietta Giannakou program. I recall, 431 schools were upgraded in the summer: new toilets, accessible toilets, paints, basic repairs and mainly complete reform of the outdoors, the small sports facilities that each school has.

It is a very important intervention and every school that is renovated gives, I would say, a new note, a new sense of optimism in every local community. We will do more about the “Marietta Giannakou” program, but we will talk about them for a while.

And of course, we are inaugurating the first 12 Onassis Gymnasiums and High Schools, which will serve as standard public units this year.

And of course, to dwell on the fact that this year’s academic year will welcome an emblematic innovation, for which our lineup has been fighting for decades. I have been informed that we will have four first non -state, non -profit universities that will open in our country for the first time. It is a reform that has been delayed decades. For the first time it gets flesh and bones.

And, of course, the fact -let me point out -that it was not licensed, at least at least first -it is always possible to do so, if the relevant files are amended -, all the institutions that applied, proves exactly how strict it was and the relevant checks were and the relevant control it was,

I would say that this reform is not a government victory, but it is a victory of simple logic over the view. It is also a time of justification for all those families who have been studying their children for years when they could possibly study in our home country.

Of course, the foundation of social policy is the economic progress that funds it. To be particularly dwelling on the bill of the Ministry of Development, which makes even simpler business licensing, especially in industry. We took over the summer – you know well – an important inter -ministerial initiative, to see fields of interventions that can limit bureaucracy to licensing issues, and I think the announcements that will be made by the minister are serious. We are essentially coming to validate at the level of a cabinet the measures that were decided on the latest Economic Policy Council.

It is yet another major reform, which restricts bureaucracy and puts another “mosaic” in this change in our country’s productive model, which is already launched with a grid of coherent policies.

To dwell on two more points, closing our agenda, which have a special meaning. The first is an initiative by the government spokesman concerning the licensing framework for the regional stations. It is a landscape in which it finally enters, under the responsibility of the National Broadcasting Council.

I think it is very important in the era of fake news that information is transparent, to ensure the jobs, the independence of the journalists, but to have guarantees, I would say, viability of businesses in the field. All this after the Bill on the Registry of Printed and Electronic Press, the arrangements for the new ERT, which I think we all agree to become more and more qualitative.

The latest reform I want to dwell on, Mr. Minister of the Environment, codifying all planning and planning provisions in a single code.

I know that the coding process -K. Foreign Minister, you were in charge of this process when you were a Minister of State- it is a bit of a boring and technical concept. But I assure you that in this case it is of great importance: it simplifies the daily lives of citizens, reduces bureaucracy, facilitates the application of the same rules throughout the country. For the first time they are coded.

And of course, it’s the first step we take. There will be other important announcements to rationalize the way the urban planning operates, but more about them will say in a week from now.
