A message of acceleration and determination for the great works of Thessaloniki was sent today by the Vice President of the Government Kostis Hatzidakisduring his visit to his construction site Flyover – of the iconic work that re -sealing the city’s traffic map. Accompanied by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Nikos Tahaiaos, as well as the Consortium contractor executives, Mr. Hatzidakis saw the progress of the project closely and was informed in detail about the next stages of implementation.

Khatzidakis: “I’m impressed”

“This is an impressive, complex and difficult task that has been discussed for years and now gets flesh and bone“, Mr. Hatzidakis said, highlighting the role of the technical consortium that has taken over the construction of the Flyover.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the progress of work, he pointed out that there is absolute commitment to the Flyover implementation contractors, the project has been completed and delivered to the citizens of Thessaloniki until May 2027.

“I’m really impressed by what I saw and heard. It is a very important development for Thessaloniki and for northern Greece as a whole, ” He emphasized emphatically, adding that the Thessaloniki Flyover, one of the largest roads of recent decades, aspires to breathe into traffic and transform the daily lives of thousands of citizens.

“Thessaloniki is transformed – so many works together has been seeing decades”

“It is very important that Flyover is not the only major intervention it is going on right now. Such a gathering of projects, Thessaloniki had been seeing many decades. “ The Vice President of the Greek Government characteristically emphasized.

He specifically referred to the extension of the subway to Kalamaria, which is delivered in a few months, with the trials of the trains already underway and talked about the two new big hospitals: the one under construction and the second one in the works. At the same time, he referred to the Gonou camp, the redevelopment of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition (TIF) and the significant impetus given to culture with the strengthening of museums of the city.

He also made a special reference to the suburban railway, recalling the prime minister’s explicit commitment, which he recently announced to Thessaloniki: “Utilizing the current rail network, we begin the suburban to western Thessaloniki, with an original section and further expansion then”.

Dimas: “The project proceeds at a rapid pace”

The work that until a year ago was susceptible to suspicion, today is proceeding at a rapid pace and changing the data for Thessaloniki, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas said.

“The rapid traffic ancelive is not just an important project for Thessaloniki, it is an iconic, innovative project for all of Greece. It will substantially contribute to urban tissue congestion and double traffic capacity, from 5,000 to 10,000 vehicles per hour »Mr Dimas characteristically said.

The minister was particularly concerned with the commitment of the consortium for strict adherence to the timetable, noting that the second mold would be put into operation in about a month, which would significantly accelerate the work.

“A year ago, there was doubt. There was skepticism about whether the project would proceed and how it would affect traffic. Today, however, citizens are seeing progress, ten construction sites are working at the same time and the image in the regional speaks on its own. The project is evolving smoothly, and we are all now looking forward to seeing it complete in May 2027. ” Mr. Dimas noted. The Increased Rapid Avenue (Flyover) of Thessaloniki “It’s no longer a statement. Is a picture, progress, future – and the future is approaching with fast steps’, He stressed.

Tahaios: “Flyover will be one of the best roads in Greece”

The Flyover construction site may be inaccessible to citizens due to strict security measures, as Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Nikos Tahaios said, “When the project is completed, Thessaloniki will acquire one of the most modern and safe roads in the country.”

Due to the complexity and strict security measures, access to the public is practically impossible at Flyover’s construction sites, Mr Tahaios noted, adding that it is because of this fact that citizens do not have a direct picture of the progress of the project, as opposed to the government officials. But he expressed confidence that, once the project is completed and delivered to the city, the impression of the Thessaloniki will be completely positive and impressive.

Safe, fast and functional access from end to edge

The new integrated regional network will now allow safe, seamless and rapid movement from one end of the city to another, either towards the center or for airy crossing, without delay in nodes, according to Mr. Tahaia.

“We’re talking about a road that will be one of the best in Greece. And when it is under the supervision of the special partnership that implements the project, it will provide high quality services to drivers and residents. “he said emphatically.

Referring to the progress of the work, Mr. Tahaios noted that about 30% of the project had already been completed and that there will soon be a spectacular acceleration with the activation of the second, blue mold. “The first mold has already been” rosized ” – to say it in terms of automotive. We now know how to operate it accurately. The second will run even faster. And when they are both in full operation, progress will be rapid. Everything moves on a timetable »Mr. Tahaios emphasized.
