In the last 6 years, Greece has moved to an unprecedented pace to cover the gap of digital transition, Justice Minister George Floridis stressed, noting that in 2019 Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis received a state of “digital illiteracy”.

“There have been jumps and our country is entering the world digital map,” Mr Floridis said, speaking at an information society event in the context of the 89th TIF on “How the Digital Transformation of Justice upgrades its quality and citizens’ confidence.”

Concerning the Justice Sector, he said that the digital transition reinforces transparency and referred to the work of digitizing the court archives, which it described as “crown”. Concerning the “electronic file”, the Minister set the goal of coming within 2026 “for all cases”. As the electronic file explained, it will include everything- all the procedural stages, with the aim of having quality decisions, and will form the basis of judges’ assessment.

Referring to the remote trials, the so -called “TV”, he said it was a “breakthrough” in the field of justice with multiple benefits.

In the importance of technology tools in the field of justice, Dimitris Papastergiou’s Minister of Digital Government was stated. He emphasized that justice -related (digital) projects “we must all run them faster in the coming period, taking advantage of the resources from the recovery fund.” He referred to artificial intelligence, saying he could offer tools for the judge to make his final decision.

“The lawyer of the future must be hybrid – must have a combination of law and technology,” said Evangelia – Elizabeth Koulubinis Vice President of the Court of Auditors, stressing that in the time we are living in the question is interdisciplinary. He referred to the new Integrated Information System for the modernization of the operation of the Court of Auditors, a project funded by the recovery fund and which Ms Kouloumbini described as “cosmogony”.

Welcoming the initiatives for the digital transformation of justice, the president of the Thessaloniki Bar Association, Dimitris Fenokaliotis, made a special mention in the “electronic file”, stressing that it would enhance transparency in justice.

The position that the digital functioning of the state will be the core of its operation, was finally expressed by the CEO of Information Society, Stavros Intithenidis. The event was co -ordinated by journalist Yiannis Tzanopoulos.
