The completion of the National Electronic Health Folder (EFFI) by the end of 2025 and its complete productive operation from January 1, 2026, was announced by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, speaking at HIDIKA’s event “Your Health in Your Hands:
“The National Electronic Health Folder already now that we are talking about it has not been completed. It will be completed by the end of the year and will be in full productive operation from January 1, 2026, “the minister said, adding that” we have completely reached the milestones set by the recovery fund and we are proud of it “.
Appointment with doctors from October 1st with a ‘click’
Mr Georgiadis announced that from October 1, citizens will be able to make an appointment with all public hospitals through the Myhealth App, which will add 7 million database to the database.
“Practically to book an appointment with a doctor in Greece on October 1st will be a case that will not be worried about any Greeks and no Greek,” he said, noting that with the application the average waiting time decreased “from three months to three days”.
Digital assistant with artificial intelligence
In the coming days, a digital assistant with artificial intelligence (Chatbot) is expected to join the Myhealth App, which will make it even easier for users. The user will be able to give voice commands eg to search for medicines, sending exams to the doctor or closing an appointment. “Even the elderly will be able to use it easily. They will speak and the application will execute the order, “he said.
“You won’t have to know anything. You will talk to him, you will tell him “find out what I got yesterday and it will get it out”. You will say “how to make an appointment” and automatically make an appointment. You will say “send to the doctor my exams” and send them alone, “the minister said, answering the agony of older people who do not know the use of technology. At the same time he emphasized that this life will become easier, the medical errors less and the patient will be able to monitor his treatment, not forget to take his medication.
Digital Oncology Councils: A ‘Revolution’ in Cancer Treatment
The minister also stood in the work of the National Registry of Neoplasm, which for 25 years was the constant demand of the Cancer Society and now operates the central digital monitoring tool for oncology patients. He made a special reference to the digital oncology council, which began to operate in Theagenio and extends to all oncology hospitals in the country.
“We have regulated the latest details and now all oncology hospitals in the country can be linked and the provincial hospital oncology units can be connected to the digital oncology council,” he noted.
With the new system, oncologists in any hospital in the country will be able to cooperate remotely with their colleagues from specialized oncology centers in Athens and Thessaloniki, offering better and more modern treatments to patients.
“A oncologist who is in the Serres Hospital will be able to enter the digital oncology council for his patient, call on five of his colleagues from the best oncology hospitals of Athens and Thessaloniki, and examine the patient’s case, and what they can do with him,” to get a second opinion.
“We’re talking about a revolution,” he said, adding that the new opportunity will facilitate access to innovative therapies and clinical studies, while “we are the first to do it throughout the EU”.
Dimitris Papastergiou: “This is the Greece of Gov.gr”
The same event was also spoken by the Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence Dimitris Papastergiou, who underlined the contribution of technology to the transformation of the health system.
“What I like to say because it is true is that this is the Greece of Gov.gr, is the fast and effective Greece. It is the health that makes the difference, “she said, adding that the country leaves behind the mistakes of the past and claims a leading role in artificial intelligence.
He even referred to the new national supercomputer “Daedalus”, which will be installed in Lavrio in 2026, and will form the basis for the development of artificial intelligence applications “so that Greece does not need to introduce technology but to create it itself”.
