A large majority of 459 votes in favor of the amendments to Dimitris Tsiodra to tackle unjustifiably different prices for the same products from the European Parliament.

Specifically, the report on the implementation of the rules and the strengthening of the EU single market makes special reference to the significant impact of unjustified geographical restrictions on consumers, the single market and small and medium -sized enterprises, since according to the Commission, it costs EU consumers over 14 billion euros. It calls on the Commission to address these restrictions and the practices of some companies to use unnecessary linguistic restrictions on the marking of basic consumer products.

It is recalled that obstacles within the EU single market are equivalent to 45% for processing and 110% for the services while this market remains incomplete and needs more integration especially in the areas of energy and telecommunications.

There is also a special reference to the challenges and obstacles facing small and medium -sized enterprises (SMEs) due to the complexity of the regulatory framework and the need for flexible solutions such as a single digital platform, where they can find all the information on applicable rules and clear instructions for the various procedures.

In the amendments tabled by Dimitris Tsiodras and voted in favor, MEPs emphasize the need to identify a clear methodology for monitoring and measuring progress in achieving the bureaucracy reduction targets by at least 25% and 35% for SMEs.

At the end of the vote, the MEP and a spokesman for the Eurogroup of the ND emphasized that the adoption of this report is “a clear message to the Commission to implement without delay the actions included in the Single Market Strategy to release its strengths”.
