The reactions of the opposition and the latest polls were spoken on SKAI television, the Secretary of the New Democracy Political Committee, Costas Skrekas.
Referring to the decision to supervise the monument by the Ministry of National Defense, Mr Skrekas stressed that “this is believed by the vast majority of the Greek people: that we must protect the monument, because it is not a place of protest, it belongs to all Greeks and not to social groups”.
Mr Skrekas explained that the government’s decision is not about “policing” the monument, a responsibility that apparently belongs to the police, but to clearly clarify the responsibilities. “The prime minister never said that the Ministry of National Defense or the Army would police the monument. He said they would have the supervision, maintenance, cleaning and highlighting. The monument must be attributed to the citizens in the situation it deserves, “he said.
Mr Skrekas also commented on the findings of the latest polls, saying that “overall, about one -third of citizens waiting to see results and solutions to everyday life, to decide whether to re -support the government,” he said.
“This is a clear message for us: we have to intensify the effort, work more, bend over the problems, listen to society and provide practical solutions,” he said.
“When the time of crisis and dilemma comes, I believe that the Greek people will allow Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the third time to go to Greece where they really deserve it,” concluded Kostas Skrekas.
