SYRIZA’s request for the presence of Hatzidakis
At the same time with a letter from SYRIZA requests that the deputy prime minister be summoned as well Kostis Hatzidakison the occasion of a publication of the Journal of Editors to inform the deputy prime minister about the plan to close 204 stores.
Koumoundourou’s announcement:
“After the revelations of the Journal of the Editors about the information of the Deputy Prime Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis about the plan to close 204 ELTA stores, the questions are now relentless:
▪️Did Mr. Hatzidakis know or not that the management of ELTA had already proceeded with a decision for the mass suspension of dozens of shops?
▪️Was he aware or not that since last Friday the ELTA administration handed over 600 “way sheets” to staff of 204 stores to become distributors elsewhere, as a result of which entire areas are left without basic postal services?
As the report reveals, since the first ten days of October, he had already received a detailed letter from the managing director of ELTA and his close associate, Grigoris Sklikas, in which the organization’s financial situation and its downsizing plan were described in every detail.
According to ELTA sources, this letter was also shared with the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, who oversees the “Catholic Service”. The information was complete. The silence, however, is deafening.
If he knew, he is jointly responsible for an unprecedented act of discrediting the public organization. If he did not know, then there is a question of the functioning and credibility of the “staff state” and the government itself.
For all these reasons, the Secretary of the SYRIZA-PS Parliamentary Group, Dionysis Kalamatianos, today sent a letter to the President of the Parliament, requesting the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, at tomorrow’s joint meeting of the Standing Committees on Economic Affairs and Public Administration, Public Order & Justice, in order to give full explanations of who knew, who decided and who covered the closure and deprecation of ELTA.
The government cannot feign ignorance. Citizens deserve clear answers.”
