Emphasizing on social politics and the support of wintering citizens from its consequences energy crisis and accuracy, the President of PASOK- Movement for Change Nikos Androulakis opens the file of social housing and offer cheap to rent roof to young couples, new employees and students.
An issue that he places very high on his policy agenda and key policy priorities, in order to create the conditions that will ensure access to decent and affordable housing, while strengthening social housing.
In an article, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change presents a package of integrated proposals in this direction and specifically proposes:
-To create a public stock of houses, which will be available for rent. Public real estate as well as public lands can be utilized in this direction.
-Thanks to European programs thousands of homes will be built and renovated and will be available for rent with social criteria at affordable prices
-Special provision should be made for new families
-The revenue from the state coffers from these rents will be used to finance the maintenance of these houses, the construction of new ones or the implementation of social policies
-Providing tax incentives to private homeowners who remain vacant and unused for a long time or even financing their renovation, but with the obligation to be available for long-term rent at affordable prices
At the same time, it starts online campaign while a dedicated website will soon be active providing useful information.
In this context, a few days ago, Mr. Androulakis discussed in detail with the Portuguese Prime Minister, Antonio Costa, in Lisbon the model of social housing that is successfully implemented in the country of the Iberian Peninsula. These are three programs running in Portugal funded by the Recovery Fund and concern:
- 26,000 social housing for rent to the financially vulnerable
- 7,000 homes for rent at an affordable price for the middle class
- 2,000 homes for victims of violence, refugees, victims of disasters
According to Mr. Androulakis, in Greece there is no integrated public policy for housing but fragmentary policies that do not solve the problem and as he emphasizes for PASOK-Movement for Change, the formulation of a holistic and coherent housing policy that will include short-term, medium-term and long-term goals, is our key political priority.
