Having now in their “suitcases” increase the minimum wage by 50 euros per month, government MPs left for their constituencies to celebrate Easter. An increase is added to the series of interventions that the government has already made for months in order to deal with energy price hikes as a result of the war in Ukraine.
A political decision that shows the intention of the government to give a special basis social policy and support for workers and households. But also a decision that was hastened – by a week – in view of Easter, in order to give another argument to the leaders of the ruling party, who will be in their constituencies and will face the dissatisfaction of their voters for the suffocating conditions that “suffocate” the family budget.
“We said it, we did it”
So that the discussion at the Easter table does not revolve around a “will”, regarding the increase in the minimum wage, the government “turned” the debateannouncing in time its decision, in the tangible result of a salary that from May 1 will reach 713 euros.
A move that seals once again the slogan “we said it, we did it”, which seems to “lead” the ND executives on the long road to the polls, whenever they are set up.
After all, the increase of the minimum wage, comes to be added to the other interventions with a social footprint, which are already implemented but also others that will follow in the near future. Between them, the support of 200 euros seen by more than 1.7 million citizens yesterday and the day before yesterday, the fuel card, subsidies already made to electricity and gas bills. «There are a number of measures, which come to add to the effort we make, in order to strengthen households, businesses, the whole of Greek society in the most difficult situation we have found since World War II and after. The government spokesman remarked.
The next measures
At the same time, “waiting”, depending on the decisions that European leaders will take at the May Summit on whether or not to tackle energy precision, is the government’s national action plan to absorb some of the increases in energy tariffs.
In any case, both the measures that have already been taken and those that will follow are estimated to change the political climate and the pressure on the government.
The next crucial station, however, will be the conference of NDwhere Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to announce targeted support measures for specific social groups. Young people are expected to have a prominent position as the prime minister will “Unfold” the government housing plan for employees and young couples, in the context of supporting the family and combating the demographic problem.
