From the podium of the conference, the Prime Minister is called to go through the “conclusions” of the expected government damage and the conditions caused by war in Ukraine and highlight the government project which took place in conditions of successive crises from the assumption of governance of the country until today (Greek-Turkish, pandemic, energy).
The message sent throughout the pandemic and the energy crisis that erupted with the war in Ukraine is that the ruling party in the first priority always manemphasizes social politics and social footprint of the policies implemented. Policies aimed at alleviation of the weakest and improve the lives of citizens. Besides, the Prime Minister is expected to emphasize support for the middle classστα working and the very significant reduction in unemploymentwhich despite the difficult conditions, has taken place, but also in new generationwith an emphasis on their support and care for one housing policy.
Consistency of words and deeds
Kyriakos Mitsotakis has long brought to the fore the slogan “we said it, we did it”, wanting to emphasize the consistency of words and deeds of his government. A consequence that managed to overcome the obstacles caused during the three-year rule of ND, external factors and crises that arose and finally to implement most of its election program.
High in the remarks of the prime minister during the congress of ND is expected to be the economy, which “endured” to support Greek society both during the unprecedented and difficult conditions of the pandemic, and during the current energy crisis that arose as a result of the war in Ukraine. In fact, in anticipation of a possible common European “response” to energy precision, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will propose the new national plan to support households and businesses, saying that the government supports and will continue to support Greek society for the duration of the crisis, exhausting every opportunity.
From the podium of the 14th Congress of ND, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to highlight the “important work” that was done both at the international level and the upgrading our country abroad. Special mention is expected of the strong international alliances that have either been reheated or further upgraded.
After all, all these critical issues are the thematic units of the conference and especially during the second day of the Conference, the participants will be placed in six thematic sections, which are: “Security for all”, “Environmental protection and dealing with the energy crisis”, “Everyday life: A state friendly to citizens & Fair development”, “Strengthening the international image of Greece”, “New Democracy: Dare to evolves while remaining firm in its values ​​”, and” Policies for young people “. In fact, during the last thematic section “Policies for the youth”, the youngest deputies of the party will present a package of proposals concerning the new generation.
P. Marinakis: we will compare what we said before the elections and what happened after the elections
“ND is a democratic party in practice, not in words, it keeps the promise of the president and prime minister of the country, to hold an annual congress and in fact every two years to be electoral, to renew its organs, the political committee and then the other bodies and be participatory. The delegates are about 2,300 and many of our informed members have stated that they are observers, I believe that the participation will surpass the record of the previous conference ” stressed in an interview the secretary of ND Pavlos Marinakis on the 14th Congress of the ruling party.
He even described the 14th Congress of ND as “very important”, because it comes at a time when our country as well as all of humanity has been faced with the most and greatest crises ever encountered by any government and any state at the same time. “What we will do with sobriety and arguments is to compare what we said before the election and what happened after the election. The second is to answer important questions, who is truly progressive, the one who reduces taxes by more than 20 for all citizens or the one who raises more than 27, the one who makes a digital state model or the one who never did anything for the state , to ask the right questions. We will define what it means to be a truly progressive party and vice versa, a backward party. This is the part of the account. The other part, the planning for me is more important, because the pre-election program that is implemented, the consistency of words and deeds is the result of internal party processes, not only with the party executives but also with the civil society. “What we are called to say to the delegates and then to the Greek citizens, is how this will be done, how it has been done until today and how it will continue to be done,” concluded the secretary of ND.
The program of the conference
The work of the Conference will last from 6 to 8 May and will take place in Metropolitan Exponear the airport of Athens and the beginning of the works will be announced by Chairman of the Organizing Committee Vangelis Meimarakiswhile, before the speech of the Prime Minister, Mr. President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis.
Welcoming remarks will also be made during the proceedings of the Conference representatives of European Union countriesits representatives European People’s Party and his European Parliamentas well as representatives other parties in the Greek Parliament.
Tomorrow Saturday, the presentation of the project for the Digital Transformation of the party will take place.
The speeches of the former Commissioner for Immigration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, the Vice President of the European Commission Margaritis Schoinas, as well as the former President of the party and former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, the Secretary of State Marinaki and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Vangelis Meimarakis. Before the end of the work, the President of the party and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will address the body of delegates.
