Novartis: Dimitris Papagelopoulos in the Supreme Court for his apology

The threshold of the Supreme Court passed today the former Deputy Minister of Justice Dimitris Papagelopoulosin order to apologize before her investigator of the Special Court on the responsibility of ministers Konstantina Alevizopoulou for Novartis case.

Mr. Papagelopoulos charged with 8 offenses related to interventions in the Novartis case. In addition to the 8 offenses, He is also credited with an attempt to blackmail businessman Sambi Mioni following a complaint by the latter.

The eight charges against Mr. Papagelopoulos are:

1) Moral instigation in a criminal abuse of power (article 46 par. 1 in combination with no. 239 of the Penal Code),

2. Moral instigation in misdemeanor abuse of power (no. 46 par. 1 in combination with no. 239 of the Penal Code),

3. Moral instigation in breach of duty (no. 46 par. 1 in combination with no. 259 of the Penal Code),

4. Continuous breach of duty (P.K. 259 independently),

5. Attempt of extortion (no. 385 par. 1 per. C of old PK of article 385 par. 1 and 3 of PK as in force after the entry into force of law 4619/2019),

6. Bribery of a political official (no. 159 par. 1 of old and new PK)

7. Bribery of an employee (no. 235 of the Penal Code) and

8. Criminal organization (gang) – no. 187 par. 5 of old P.K. and par. 3 of new P.K.).
