The need for close cooperation between Greece and Cyprus-Israel in the field of energy stressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias after its end teleconference with his counterparts from the USA, Cyprus and Israel in the framework of the 3 + 1 scheme.
«I had the opportunity to emphasize that after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the strengthening of our cooperation in the framework of the 3 + 1 scheme is absolutely necessary. I stressed the importance of that Greece contributes to interconnection and energy security and in this context I referred to the new floating liquefied natural gas conversion station in Alexandroupolis, the implementation of which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister a few days ago. I also mentioned energy and electricity connection between Greece, Cyprus and Israel through the well-known EastMed pipeline, but also the Euroasia electricity interconnection“, He stated characteristically and added that these two projects follow the same geographical direction.
Mr Dendias added that the four foreign ministers also considered co-operation under the 3 + 1 scheme in economy, new technologies, environmental protection and civil protection.
In fact, he announced that they agreed on a new meeting either in Washington or in Greece or in Cyprus with physical presence before the end of the year.
«The purpose of this meeting will be to further deepen multilateral cooperation, but mainly to spread the message that Greece together with Cyprus, Israel and the USA are pillars of peace, security and stability in our region“, concluded.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also made a relevant post in twitter noting that their discussions focused on strengthening 3 + 1 cooperation in a number of areas, including energy, the common commitment to peace, security and prosperity in the eastern Mediterranean, and the situation in Ukraine.
