Italo Ferreira bets on gratitude to win G-Land – Origin Surf

Athlete is the first surfer to win a limited edition Red Bull

On the eve of the start of the most awaited stage of the world, Italo Ferreira is getting ready to surf the beautiful and tubular waves of G-Land. In parallel to the tour, Ferreira recently won an online game whose dynamics will present the winners with an exclusive meeting with Italo.

In an interview with the blog, Italo Ferreira says that the strategy to face opponents in G-Land will be based on gratitude. The athlete also talked about the controversial cut that took away talent from the CT and what he dreams of conquering as a professional athlete.

Question – What is your relationship with Red Bull? We realize that you love to have some energy drinks before the drums, at what other moments of your routine does the drink accompany you?

Response – It’s a partnership relationship, the brand has been with me since before the Olympics, and it’s been great to live several experiences, and, of course, the biggest one is stamping the can of the flavor I consume the most. Red Bull gives me wings, literally lol. I’m connected with the brand, so it’s pure synergy.

P – When did you start surfing did you think you would get this high?

R – I started surfing completely for fun, surfing the styrofoam lid of my father’s fish box, who was a fisherman, without having too much pretension. But when I started participating in the championships and seeing that there I could project myself to incredible places and help my family, I started to dream big. I really wanted to be world champion, I fought hard for it, and being the first Olympic champion in the sport came with it. I just have to thank the sport that brought me so many achievements.

P – After an Olympic gold medal and a world title, what else do you dream of?

R – After we conquer a dream, the goal becomes to conquer it again. I would like to be able to bring important achievements, such as the two-time world championship, and who knows, another medal in the Olympics, to Brazil again.

P- During the tour how is your life? How much time of the year do you spend at your house in Baía Formosa, with your family?

R – While I’m in a championship I’m 100% focused on training and surfing, I don’t let myself get distracted. When I’m off work, I make the most of it to be close to those who matter most to me, my family, girlfriend and friends, that’s why I go to Baía Formosa. Pretty much all the time I’m not training or competing I go there, any time I have I’m flying back home.

P – What did you think of the cut after Margaret? Did you sign the petition sent to the WSL asking for the rule change?

I understand the need for the cut from a championship logistics point of view, but it’s sad to say goodbye to talented surfers right in the middle of competition, I believe the variety of talent is always positive for the public and for us.

P – What is your strategy for G-Land?

R – Thank God and the sport.

The two most agile competitors in the final ranking will have the opportunity to meet the Olympic champion, in the Saquarema (RJ) stage of the WSL World Surfing Circuit.
