England have nominated a 14-person squad for the upcoming ODI series against the Netherlands.
World Cup winner Eoin Morgan will play a three-day international match against the Netherlands starting June 17 in Amstelveen, a suburb of the Amsterdam metro.
Lanca Sher Bowler’s Luke Wood and Gloucestershire Pacemaker’s David Payne are two unnamed players nominated in the team.
This is Wood’s first call-up to senior teams, while Payne was previously involved in ODIs last summer against Pakistan.
New England White Ball coach Matthew Mott said: We have a lot of depth in combining youth and experience.
We want to continue to play in an expressive style and allow players to show off their skills and firepower.
England ODI Team
Luke Wood deserves to be called. He has been consistent at Lancashire for the last 12 months and we have been monitoring his progress. If there is an opportunity in the game, trust him to make the most of it.
This is a historic opportunity for the sport, where a British man will face the Netherlands for the first time in the ODI series. We are looking forward to traveling to Amsterdam and putting on shows for the thousands of fans who come to support our team.
ODI has a disability and the last time I played was in July. But in about 18 months until the next ICC 50 World Cup in India, our preparations will start to go strong at nine games in the summer and will compete with strong rivals in the upcoming busy winter.
England’s trip to Amsterdam will be a busy time for the teams as they play a series of white balls against India and South Africa at the end of the summer.
