Palmeiras travels to the final of the Libertadores with a party for the fans

by

Palmeiras fans have been since the morning of this Wednesday (24th) in front of the Football Academy, in Barra Funda, to say goodbye to the squad before the trip of the alviverde delegation to Uruguay, this afternoon, where the team will seek the third championship of the Libertadores, in decision with Flamengo, on Saturday (27).

Abel Ferreira’s team travels the day after drawing with Atlético-MG, by 2-2, in their last commitment for the Campeonato Brasileiro before the final of the continental tournament.

Around noon, around 400 fans, according to the PM, occupied one of the lanes on Avenida Marquês de São Vicente to say goodbye and wish the delegation good luck.

On Twitter, Mancha Alviverde, which summoned the fans, said authorities did not authorize a farewell at the airport. Questioned by the report, the PM did not confirm the reason for the ban until the publication of this text.

Departure to Uruguay is scheduled for 15:00. Arrival in the capital Montevideo is scheduled for 5:50 pm (Brasilia time). On Thursday (25th) and Friday (26th), the team will train at the Gran Parque Central stadium. The duel with Flamengo will take place at Centenário, at 17:00.

Many of the fans who were in front of the CT will not be able to travel to accompany the team. Jefferson, 44, is one of them. “With a R$1,100 ticket, plus the caravan, it’s unfeasible”, says the fan, who teaches at a soccer school and brought one of his students, Gustavo Nascimento, to see the fans’ party.

“It’s really cool to be close to the team,” says the 7-year-old.

Businesswoman Aghata Ferreira, 23, was also at the CT, convinced by her son, Bruno. “He is fanatical about the team, he has never been to the stadium, so I brought him,” he said, as his 7-year-old son sang along with the crowd.

At around 12:50 pm, the bus left the Academy under fireworks, while the people from Palmeira sang the club’s anthem and sang songs that mention the “Libertadores Cup” as an obsession.

About 60,000 tickets went on sale for the match. Of this total, 12 thousand are destined exclusively to Palmeiras fans, the same number made available to fans of the rubro-negra team. Conmebol does not disclose partial sales of the single final.

With the release for the use of 100% of the stadium’s capacity in the Uruguayan capital, Palmeiras informed on Tuesday (23) that they still had tickets for sale and made available up to four tickets for the same fan, who does not necessarily need to be a member of Avanti.

Since the beginning of the sale of tickets, fans of both teams complain on social networks about the prices of tickets for the game. The cheapest ticket costs US$200 (R$1,114 at current prices) and the most expensive one sells for US$650 (R$3,621). Not to mention the cost of travel and accommodation in Uruguay.

The confrontation will be broadcast by SBT, on open TV, and by FOX Sports, on closed. On the internet, it will be possible to watch the game on ESPN through the Star+ streaming service and on Conmebol TV.
