Mikel Arteta is “angry” at Arsenal’s decision in the transfer market and fears ruining the club’s chances of beating Manchester City striker Gabriel Magalh.
Last summer, Arteta spent around $150m on Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odeger to curb the urge to revive Arsenal ahead of the 2022-23 season.
The Mets posted a mixed season in the 2021-22 season. The young and inexperienced team failed to return to the Champions League after being demoted late.
Arteta wants to sign new strikers, midfielders and defenders this summer and has targeted Manchester City striker Jesus as one of his main targets.
The Spanish work with Jesús when he was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the Etihad and believe that he is the one who fills the void left by Pierre-Emerick Obameyan and Alexandre Lacazette.
However, Arteta fears Arsenal will miss Jesus and is increasingly dissatisfied with the club’s transfer strategy, according to the Daily Mail.
All major transactions at Arsenal are due to go through American owners this summer and are said to delay transactions that could sacrifice Arteta’s main target.
Arsenal turned out to be favorites to sign Brazilian player Jesus, but “Metope” currently competes with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham, as well as European champions Real Madrid.
Despite Arteta’s desire to take Jesus to north London, Arsenal are still reluctant to qualify City of London and have yet to start negotiations with the players.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are being urged to make a “brave offer” to Lukaku’s undisputed forward Paul Merson, the “Mezroll” legend.
The Belgian star has had a disastrous season at Stamford Bridge and wants to return to Italian club Inter this summer.
Merson told the Daily Star: “Arsenal will need to earn $660m for Lukaku this summer.
Arsenal haven’t had a guy this big, strong and dynamic since Kevin Campbell. Lukaku is an elite top scorer, although he knows that he hasn’t scored many goals this season.
“Arsenal play very well on the edge of the box, but then they often make mistakes. Arsenal go too far. They want a striker on the edge of the box. It will come in handy.”
