England captain Harry Kane said he was ready to become a professional golfer as soon as he quit football.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker has been an amateur golfer since childhood and will join New Jersey’s icon series later this month after their final game against Hungary in the Nations League on Tuesday night.

Kane is disabled by scratches and competes in Ryder Cup style with other sports stars such as Liverpool midfielder James Milner, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and cricketers Brian Lalampe and Ricky O’Leary. Phelps and boxer Canelo Álvarez.

The 28-year-old, who is just three goals shy of Wayne Rooney’s record 50 goals, wanted to miss out on his chances compared to the pros but ruled out dramatic career changes in the future.

“I think the ideal race would be the World Cup, the Super Cup and maybe the Masters green jacket,” Kane joked before the event.

“I think it’s far, but I never said it,” he added. “I’m a long way from where the pundits are right now, I know for sure. I’m just focusing on football. Golf is a great hobby to get away from football.”

Kane recalled his current job and tried to praise his two current managers. He praised the impact on England and Spurs after Gareth Southgate and Antonio Conte played their respective roles.

“I can’t speak highly enough about Garrett,” Kane said. I welcomed an under 21 team and a senior team. He understands what the England team needs to succeed. We have been one of the most successful teams in England for the last 50 years. So we are moving in the right direction.

“The plan is to return [for pre-season] On July 8 I will travel to Korea with my son. I guess very well [manger] While Antonio Conte was there, I am looking forward to the next season and the future.
