The Australian Grand Prix will remain on the F1 calendar after organizers sign a new contract with the sport until 2035.

Held in Melbourne’s Albert Park Street Circle, the race was absent for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was attended by a record 419,000 spectators who turned out to see Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc win. ..

Australia was an important part of the F1 calendar after its first Grand Prix in Adelaide in 1985 and before moving to its current location in 1996, where the finals or season opener are usually held.

Although always a popular event for locals, Albert Park is often cited as one of the most boring races to question its future due to its previous contract, which expired in 2025.

However, according to F1 chairman and chief executive Stefano Domenical, the change to the track and the support from huge fans ahead of this year’s race meant the upgrade was inevitable. ..

“Racing has always been popular with fans, drivers and teams, and Melbourne is an incredibly vibrant international city that suits our sport,” said the Italian.

“We met some great people and enthusiastic fans at this year’s Grand Prix. We are very excited about the future of Australia where our sport continues to grow. We all stand with all of our fans next season. I am really looking forward to being back in Melbourne.”

While this news will please fans, there are many concerns about the upcoming F1 calendar which will introduce new races in Miami, Las Vegas and Qatar and possibly disrupt the race schedule.

After all, there could be 26 races in 2023 and the contract to return to South Africa is very close, but drivers and teams say the current 22-race season is on the brink of failure.

As a result, fans are very concerned that the most historic Grand Prix will be forced across the street. ..

Mexico and France are also on the brink of crisis, but COVID-19 travel restrictions could lift the Chinese Grand Prix.
