Panathinaikos became the first Greek team to reach the final of a European inter-club tournament in table tennis on Saturday night 06/18.
At the Europe Trophy Grand Final, held in Havirov, Czech Republic, the club’s women’s team defeated Antwerp of Belgium 3-0 in the semifinals and qualified for the decisive match for the trophy.
So far two teams had advanced to the semifinals, Panathinaikos in 1974 in the Men’s Cup Winners’ Cup and Pera Athens in 2001 in the Men’s Champions Cup, now the best performance is held by the women of Panathinaikos, in fact they have all the conditions to reach the top in the maiden year of the third to qualify for the European Team Cup!

Tonight in the cross semifinals, Panathinaikos faced Antwerp, which had taken 2nd place in the 2nd group. Also, the Belgian team had met in the first phase in Latvia and had prevailed 3-0. It did the same now, although Antwerp was slightly stronger than in the first phase.
