Matthew Fitzpatrick is aiming to win six major titles in his career, insisting on Sunday’s National Open and taking the first step towards that big goal.
The Sheffield Star completed a six-under in Brooklyn and beat Scott Chefler and Wilsartris in one shot on the final hole.
This is the first major title in a 27-year career joining Justin Rose as the only Briton to win the US Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970.
Yorkshire have won big titles for a long time since turning professional in 2014, but they won’t stick to one major title, which is top six goals from Nick Faldo and Phil Mickelson.
“6 is a number,” he told Sky Sports of his main title ambitions. This is the number we all agree on. There is a little way to go, but this is a good start.
“Now you want to make more money, there’s no question about it.
“Still, it’s easy to get out of the way. I’ve got to keep doing what I’m doing and hopefully more to come. I’m excited for now.”
Fitzpatrick added: “It doesn’t make sense in this world. It’s very cliché, but that’s what you dreamed of when you were a child. To achieve this, I can retire a happy man tomorrow. ..
It was also an incredibly emotional day for Caddy Billy Foster. Caddy Billy Foster got his first big win in 40 years and missed out on save stars Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke.
“It’s incredibly emotional,” Foster told Sky Sports. “Kadia is 40 years old. I knew someone was keeping me away from this giant ape. He was a gorilla, the monkey doesn’t care!
“He was absolutely great. He missed some short shots and finished off my head, but didn’t he have to win four? One was enough.”
‘ნიშნავს means a lot.obviously the best [Westwood]Darren Clarke, Sheave, had a go for years, Thomas Bjorn Enjoyed the day he went to the bunker for a sandwich [2003 Open] And it hurts so much, I thought about it every day for 6 months, my heart sank.
But it brought back a lot of bad memories. That means everything to me.

Fitzpatrick is back in Brooklyn. He won the 2013 US Open Amateur Tournament and is clearly interested in Boston Hall.
“Obviously I won twice here,” he said. “I’m trying to host all the tour events here. Being with them this week has calmed me down a lot. There is no pressure and I love every minute of it.”
