Chelsea have confirmed the resignation of Russian-Canadian manager Marina Granovskaya, who has become the latest hottest departure after Bruce Buck decided to step down as chairman.
Granovskaya went to the West London Club following Roman Abramovich in 2003, was appointed to the board of directors 10 years later, and was promoted to CEO in 2014.
He was Chelsea’s main transfer negotiator during the Abramovich era, won the title of Best Club Manager at last year’s Golden Boy Awards and was considered one of the best operators in football.
Chelsea’s new owner wanted to persuade him to stay on, at least until the end of the current transfer period, but his responsibilities will be taken over by co-owner Todd Boyle, chairman-designate. ..
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Chelsea confirmed Ball’s appointment as Bach’s successor, with him working as a “temporary sporting director” until a full-time replacement is hired.
Granovskaya has resigned, but “as long as we need to support the transformation, she will remain available during the current transfer of Boel and the club.”
In a short letter of praise, Boel said:
Boel has already led negotiations with Intel over the repayment of Lukaku San Siro’s loan and reiterated his intention to challenge for Chelsea’s title as the new chairman.
“As directors of Chelsea FC, we have begun to implement the club’s long-term vision and plans, creating a unique experience for loyal and passionate fans, and the highest prize money in Chelsea’s natural history. I continue to challenge.”
“We are working side by side and we are determined to win, both on and off the pitch. For us, this effort has begun.”

Bruce is yet to make an acquisition this summer but has lost central defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on a free transfer and is looking for top scorer Lukaku last season.
Boyle is now under pressure to present a new signing to trainer Thomas Tuchel. Thomas Tuchel wants a lot of additions, including two central defenders, a right back, a forward and a right back.
Chelsea want to bring in a sporting director, and Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta is rumored to be one of the favourites, but the appointment doesn’t take place until the end of the window.
