Tommy Fury has confirmed that he has signed a contract to fight Jake Paul on August 6.
Discussions have resumed between the two rivals in recent months since their meeting broke down when Fury was forced to leave in December last year due to injury or illness.
Tribal father and trainer John Fury told Metro.co.uk that negotiations began in June over the battle in New York.
This week, Paul revealed another big withdrawal, but claimed his opponents didn’t want to fight without John in their corner: Fury Snr due to his 2011 incarceration. He was banned from traveling to the United States.
As a boxer, YouTube shared a video on Wednesday night claiming that Fury has 24 hours to sign a $2 million contract.
However, a former Love Island star now says the deal is over: The delay claims to have been caused by Paul signing a VADA drug test.
“As you know, the battle on August 6 is moving forward,” Fury announced in a video posted on Instagram.
After weeks of waiting for Jake Paul to sign up for drug testing and put the fight in jeopardy, the contract was signed and he finally signed up for drug testing.
“We have agreed to a satisfactory contract, so the fight will continue and we will meet on August 6.”
After an unsuccessful battle in December, Paul fought former UFC middleweight champion Tyron Woodley for the first time in six months, earning a big knockout and breaking the 5-0 record.
Meanwhile, Fury had one final match in April, earning his eighth career win at Wembley Stadium, comfortably scoring the Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte undercard.
