He is in a sea of happiness Carlos Sainz after his maiden victory in Formula 1. The Spaniard triumphed at the Silverstone Grand Prix and in the statements he made immediately afterwards, he could not hide his excitement.

What Carlos Sainz said in detail:

“I have no words. It’s a fantastic feeling. First victory, after 150 races, with Ferrari, at Silverstone, I couldn’t ask for more. It is a special day, a day I will never forget. It was overall a special weekend for me. Thanks everyone for the support. Lewis (Hamilton) was great today, it was one of his very good days but we managed to stay ahead and I’m very happy.

It was not an easy fight. I struggled with the balance of the car, especially in the first part of the race, with the medium tyre. Max was forcing us to push a lot in the high speed corners and I had suffered my left front tyre. But despite all this I had not lost my faith, I felt that victory could come. I had to stay in the game, that’s what I was trying to do all of a sudden. The safety car gave me a chance to re-enter the fray and I finally did. You can imagine the pressure on that restart behind the safety car, knowing that was my chance. I finally succeeded and got the win.

Silverstone is a special place for me. This is where I took my first victory in Formula BMW in 2010, having also taken my first pole a day earlier and twelve years later I achieved exactly the same. Simply in Formula 1 and with Ferrari! It’s a special place for me and I thank all the audience who applauded me.”
