Super Max in Austria and… thesis Ferrari!

by

The Flying Dutchman… is back! THE Max Verstappen with a terrible sector 3 in the last round, he managed to steal her pole position for Sprint Race of Saturday (09/07) by Charles Leclercwho seconds earlier had initially improved the fastest lap but was left… empty-handed.

Somehow, the two title contenders will start from 1-2 tomorrow, while behind them on the second row of the start will be Saint, Peres. Disaster for Mercedes which saw both of its drivers go off the track, with Russell starting from 5th and Hamilton from 10th, as long as their cars did not suffer any serious damage (mostly to the gearbox).

In Q1 things did not go well for them Ricciardo, Vettel who once again were left out of continuity, while the Botas, Norris they were slower than the rest of the drivers and were left out of Q3. That’s where it happened… disaster, since the two of them Mercedes and especially the Lewis Hamilton they looked blazingly fast, with his team-mates predicting the Briton might even start from the front row.

However, the predictions went… wrong and the qualifying tests in Austria turned into a fiasco for the Mercedes. First, upon completion of a five-minute o Hamilton he lost control and ran into the tires to wreck his car, with the red flag coming out and practice halted to remove the Mercedes. Shortly after the restart, the other Mercedesthis time of George Russellalso went off the track and qualifying was halted again, with the team people seriously concerned about gearbox damage!

With 2:30 minutes left on the clock, the drivers each had just one attempt at pole position, but there was also the “fear” of creating a “roller coaster” with the 8 cars and someone getting stuck in… traffic.

The two Alpines came out first, with Alonso having a “clear” track in front of him, Ocon followed as did the other six drivers who tried to make up some distance in order to get a faster lap.

THE Leclerc although in the first two sectors his time did not improve Verstappen managed to do a great last sector and climb to first place, with him Saint to follow him in second place. Super Max, however, had not said his last word and although it looked like he would start third, he made an improbable sector 3 to “steal” the pole position for Saturday’s Sprint Race.
