Reportedly, Chelsea’s transfer to Kalidou Koulibaly could be completed very quickly after the Napoli defenders agreed on a big contract on personal terms.
Bruce was rumored to be closing in on a 31-year-old £33.8m deal on Tuesday, but further negotiations were needed to finalize the price and structure of the deal.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of SkySport Italia, the negotiations are progressing at a pace that can be completed and signed by the end of Wednesday.
Napoli are ready to shake hands with a two-time payment of €38m (£32.1m), plus a bonus of €2m (£1.7m).
Negotiations between Chelsea and Koulibaly (with only one year remaining at the Italian club) are moving fast, with the defenders verbally agreeing to their personal terms.
Senegal International earns £160,000 a week at Stamford Bridge, along with various bonuses.
Initial reports indicate that Couribury will only receive a three-year deal with the fourth option, but centre-backs claim the centre-back will sign a five-year deal.
This is a dramatic change from the Roman Abramovich-era approach, where players over 30 were only given short-term contracts, highlighting the extent to which co-owner Todd Boel supports Thomas Tuchel.
The deal was so far advanced that Couribury was unable to return to the Naples pre-season camp at Valdisole and was allowed to meet with his agent in Milan to complete the deal.

Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti also spoke about the possibility of Koulibaly’s departure during a fan Q&A on Instagram.
“If you decide to leave, we will never stop thanking you for all the help you have given us. If he wants to choose something else, we deserve it and we wish him the best.”
Chelsea hope to complete Koulibaly’s contract by the weekend, after which Tuchel aim to sign Nathan Aké and Presnel Kimpembe, with a focus on signing two more centre-backs.
