Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has not denied the signing of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane but has admitted the English captain will be “very expensive”.
The German champions lost Robert Lewandowski this summer when the Polish striker joined Barcelona for around £42.5m.
He was not quiet in the transfer market and brought in Sadio Mané, Matais de Rigut, Ryan Grabenberg and others, but Bayern have not replaced Lewandowski with another centre-forward.
Kane is one of the few players to replace the prolific Paul, and Nagelsmann seems interested in bringing in a 28-year-old Bayern, but it may be too costly. ..
“He’s too expensive, that’s a problem, but he’s a great player,” Nagelsmann said of Kane. “One of the best strikers, maybe one of the two or three centre-backs who can play centre-forward.
“He hasn’t played center forward in recent years. He fell a little bit to number 10. He can also play number 10.
“Very strong and wonderful in its own way. It is possible to score a lot of goals in the Bundesliga, but it will be difficult for Bayern Munich. Let’s see what happens in the future.”
Bavarian CEO Oliver Kahn also hinted at Kane’s future, telling Bilt: Of course, he’s definitely the best striker, but it’s all a dream of the future. “
That could mean the German giant would consider moving Kane next summer with just one year remaining on Spurs’ contract.
The English captain’s contract in North London will run until 2024, with his demand declining significantly towards the last 12 months of the contract.
