Antonis Vlontakis is back in the National team. The world champion with the national polo team in 2005 and top scorer of the “blue and white” in the championship returned to the “emperor” of Greek water polo to take charge of the club’s youth team, continuing his work in the infrastructure departments after Glyfada and Hydraikos.

“National Piraeus and the men’s water polo department are very happy to announce the start of their collaboration with Antonis Vlontakis!

The former international athletics athlete, “bronze” world champion in 2005 (Montreal) and “Emperor” player for many years, takes over the technical leadership of the Piraeus National youth team, returning to… familiar places. As one of the leading players of Greek water polo with participation in three Olympic Games (2000, 2004, 2008), Antonis Vlontakis knows well the elements and the way the club operates, having worn the cap of the National team between 2002-2008, where and won 1 championship and 1 Greek Cup, while in 2005 he was named the institution’s top scorer.

Regarding his coaching career, the 47-year-old technician has gone through the infrastructures of ANO Glyfada and Hydraikos, while for the 2022-2023 season he is coming to succeed Andreas Kariophyllis among the young players of “Emperor”.
