Despite being 23 years old, Stanway is Manchester City’s all-time leading goalscorer, with 38 caps for England, but as much as winning a big extra time against Spain in the quarter-finals at the Amex Stadium.

His versatility is one of the Cambrian’s greatest assets, but Stanway shines as a field-to-field midfielder and isn’t ready to step up to a height of 5-foot-4. Where it hurts.

England played beautiful football in this tournament, but when grit and determination were needed, Stanway provided them in abundance in 120 minutes for Spain.

Angeldahl teamed up with her childhood friend Nathalie Björn in the middle of the game to win two games in a row in the dramatic quarter-final where Sweden beat Belgium 1-0.

“She is my best friend and my sister,” said Angel Dahl. “We have always dreamed of this. To be together.”
